GUASAVE, Sinaloa, Mexico. – Once again let go another advantage and with that a possible victory of Edgar Gonzalez, when Roberto Carlos Mendez hit a two runs homer, giving Guasave Algodoneros a 3-2 victory over Hermosillo Naranjeros.

This is the sixth defeat Naranjeros have in their last seven games, after a sweep-up over Navojoa Mayos; moreover, its was the third game rookie sensation left with advantage, the second against Guasave.

Gonzalez is still searching for Tim Leary’s record of more game won without defeat with nine established when he was with Tijuana Colts in Season 1987-88. His next start will be, at Hermosillo, on December 22 against Mexicali.

After four innings with two runs, Algodoneros took at bat in the bottom of the eighth inning, one out, David Sinohui granted a walk to Julio Zuleta, and then Mendez hit the homer to left field.

It was a homer that gave Guasave the tie-up at two runs and the victory, because they have scored another one in third inning; when they hit two doubles back-to-back by Noe Muñoz and Oswaldo Morejon, this one sent his teammate to home plate.

Edgar Gonzalez maintained five innings with two thirds, he left the game with a hurting in his fingers. He received five hits with one walk, one earned run, he maintained 1.65 ERA to continue as leader, he struck out five. Sinohui (4-2) lost the game and pitched the rest of the game.

Gilberto Gonzalez exploited in two thirds of first inning allowing two runs with four hits, two bases and a struck out. Jose Avalos, Ignacio Flores, Ignacio Montaño, the winner Juan Jose Lopez (2-2) and Cecilio Garibaldi (7) with the save followed Gilberto Gonzalez.

Two times Naranjeros runners scored, it was in second inning when Jason Grabowsky with a single to center field by Jose Luis Sandoval and Juan Carlos Canizalez did by a sacrifice high fly to center field by Carlos Gastelum.

They were completely controlled by Algodoneros pitching, being in seventh inning the only moment of an attack with a hit by Cornelio Garcia with one out. Vinicio Castilla struck out, Luis Alfonso Garcia received a walk, but Jason Grabowski grounded out to second base for third out.

Jorge de la Rosa (2-3) returned to Naranjeros starting rotation for second game at Guasave. Randy Galvez (4-5) will do the honors by Algodoneros in a scheduled for 19:30 hours, Sonora Time.
